About the Project
Developing a Plan Through Community Input
The Watt / I-80 transit center poses many obstacles for riders, from safety and access to cleanliness and beyond. This project is an opportunity to re-envision the station and develop actionable recommendations for improvement.
This project will address the following areas:
• Safety
• Pedestrian, bike, and ADA access
• Placemaking and art
• Cleanliness
• Bus Transfers
To ensure that the issues most important to SacRT riders, community members, and others are considered, SacRT and WALKSacramento will be holding a series of outreach meetings and information gathering sessions throughout the project. The ultimate goal of the project is to develop a plan that captures this input and provides clear direction on steps to take to improve conditions at Watt / I-80. This project will draw heavily on community input to provide clear guidance for SacRT to seek funding in order to make the necessary improvements that you help identify.

The Watt/I-80 Transit Center Master Plan is intended to guide improvements to transit access and safety at the SacRT Watt/I-80 Transit Center in an effort to increase transit ridership along the Interstate 80 corridor. This transit center master plan has been crafted from the input of riders, community members, business representatives, and agency staff and is guided by the goals and priorities that they have established for this project. A summary of the Master Plan can be found in the Issue Paper here. The SacRT Board will discuss the Master Plan and at the upcoming Board Meeting on April 9th.
Based on the input and information collected through public outreach, SacRT staff will be recommending to keep the Watt/I-80 station open. The Master Plan provides guidance for station improvements, focusing on implementing short-term necessary changes and pursuing grant funding for more significant changes in the long-term.
Thank you for your involvement throughout this process - your feedback has been crucial for informing the Master Plan! We look forward to continuing to work with you to make improvements that align with the community's vision and goals for safety and transit accessibility.
